This guide walks you through the first steps of building or updating a business plan in KDNA. Whether you're working on your own plan or helping someone you manage or coach, this overview will help you get started with confidence.
Once a Business Plan is activated, all goal updates must be made from the Business Plan page—not from the Landing Page or the Update To Dos page. If needed, you can deactivate the plan at any time from the Business Plan page.
Important Notes
Simple Start
When you first activate your plan, you may want to complete only Steps 1 and 2. Once you’ve generated some Actual data, return to Step 3 (and beyond) to refine and adjust your plan.
Manager-Restricted Goal Editing
If your manager has enabled the template setting that prevents users from editing goal values, you may only save your plan as a Draft. The manager will then need to activate it for you.
Overview of What You'll Learn
Using a simple example, this article explains how to:
Access and open the Business Plan tool
Review default values and adjust them to match your goals
Modify your plan throughout the year as your performance evolves
Apply new goals directly to your KDNA Tracker
Step 1: Open the Business Plan
Log in to KDNA.
Click the Business Plan button at the top of the screen.
Select the appropriate template and user.
You’ll see three default values:
Plan Start Date: Defaults to January 1
Average Income per Outcome: Pulled from the initial template settings (e.g., $5,000)
Annual Revenue Goal: Calculated based on your sales goal and Average Income per Outcome
example: 0.5 sales/week × 52 weeks × $5,000 = $130,000 in revenue
Step 2: Customize Your Plan
You may adjust one, two, or all three of these values to better match your real goals. As you edit these fields, KDNA automatically recalculates the plan.
Change your Annual Revenue Goal to $150,000. This changes your Annual Number of Outcomes Goals to 30 (ex. $150,000 / $5000 Average Income Earned Per Outcome = 30 Outcomes Needed).
Change the Average Income Earned Per Outcome to $5,500. Now the number of Annual Number of Outcomes Goal changes from 30 to 27.3 (ex: $150,000 / $5,500 = 27.3 Outcomes Needed).
Set a new Plan Start Date (e.g., February 3 for a 47-week plan). The system will Pro-rate from Plan Start Date automatically (ex: $150,000 * 47 weeks / 52 = $135,577 revenue)
Lastly, if you select the Include YTD Revenue Earned (this is revenue earned between the start of the year and the Plan Start Date) and enter a value of $23,000, your new Plan Revenue Goal will be $127,000 (ex: $150,000 - $23,000 = $127,000 revenue)
Give it a try!
Step 3: Adjust Based on Progress
As the year progresses, KDNA provides two options to help you stay aligned with your goals:
Option 1: Stay on track with your original goal
The system will increase / decrease your weekly targets to compensate for earlier shortfalls / excess.
Option 2: Maintain your current pace
The system will increase or lower your projected revenue, based on your current activity level.
Once you select your path, KDNA will generate suggested activity goals.
In the below example, the top update option Change My Goals to Achieve My Original Plan shows that Kathy is slightly behind her stated goal of reaching $150,000. You can tell this because the Outcomes per week needed to reach her plan goal from this date forward is 0.59, while her original goal is set to 0.5. By selecting the Choose button in box , new suggested goals are calculated and placed in the New Goals column in the table. These goals are based on the current Conversion Ratios and will help her stay on track to achieve 0.5 Outcomes per week.
At Kathy's current pace, she is completing 0.39 Outcomes per week with a New Projected Revenue of $101,152 (box , Change My Goals to Match My Current Pace). If she decides to work at her current pace with the lower projected annual revenue, she would select the Choose button in box
. Again, new suggested goals are calculated in the New Goals column of the bottom table that will help her achieve 0.39 Outcomes per week.
Step 4: Apply or Edit Your Goals
You can use any (or a combination) of the methods below to change your goal values:
Use All
Replaces all values in the Current Goals column with the New Goals.Left Arrow Buttons

Your business plan is now updated and live in your KDNA tracker.
